The Baraboo Blades Fencing Club
BARABOO, WISCONSIN
|
The Baraboo Blades Fencing Club was originally started in 1992. It fizzled out for a short time around 1994, but it was soon revived and has been active since about 1998.
Baraboo Blades Fencing Club focuses mostly on traditional, French-style sport fencing, but we also do a bit of saber and epee on occasion. Baraboo Blades Fencing Club meets every Tuesday night, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Baraboo Civic Center gymnasium (enter from the parking lot on First Street). Experienced, adult fencers are encouraged to give us a try, and beginners are always welcome. We accept well-behaved young adults 12 years and older. Cost is $4.00 each time you come, which covers the cost of the gym rental and repair and maintenance of club-owned gear. Instruction and limited loaner gear is provided at no extra charge. Fencing at Baraboo Blades Fencing Club is great fun, good exercise for both mind and body, plus there is often a great deal of socializing and philosophical discussion (and sometimes a bit of silliness) between bouts. The first Tuesday of each month is typically "tournament night" at Baraboo Blades Fencing Club, where we do an inter-club pool. Everyone gets to fence and we try to give everyone an opportunity to be a judge as well. We have also done a few more formal tournaments with other clubs in Madison and the greater Milwaukee areas. Stop by and give Baraboo Blades Fencing Club a try! |
